Inspired by “INFINIT”, the annual creative competition invites students to explore new perspectives through photography, videography, design, and writing and publishing.

The School of Communication at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) is calling for submissions for the 8th Stellar Prize, an annual creative competition that celebrates the talents and creativity of university students across Malaysia. With this year’s theme, “INFINIT”, the competition encourages students to think beyond boundaries, explore new possibilities, and express their ideas through creative works.

Since its establishment in 2018, The Stellar Prize has provided a platform for emerging talents to showcase their abilities and gain recognition for their work. The competition continues to bring together students from different universities and creative disciplines, encouraging them to share their perspectives and connect through creativity.

Exploring the Theme: INFINIT

Inspired by the infinity symbol (∞), “INFINIT” represents endless possibilities, continuity, and connection. The theme encourages students to move beyond conventional thinking and explore ideas without fixed boundaries or limitations.

Through their creative expressions, participants are invited to experiment with new perspectives, challenge familiar ways of thinking, and communicate ideas that reflect their imagination and understanding of the world. Whether through images, videos, designs, or written works, each submission offers an opportunity to explore what creativity can become when possibilities remain open.

Four Categories to Showcase Your Creativity

The 8th Stellar Prize features four main award categories, providing students with opportunities to present their skills and ideas across different creative disciplines.

Photography celebrates the art of visual storytelling through photographs, encouraging participants to capture meaningful moments, subjects, and perspectives.

Videography recognises creative storytelling through moving images, giving participants the opportunity to communicate ideas and stories through video.

Design invites students to transform ideas into visual concepts through creative and thoughtful design.

Writing & Publishing provides a platform for students to express ideas, communicate perspectives, and engage readers through written and published works.

Each category features different awards designed to recognise students' creative efforts and achievements. Students are encouraged to visit the official website for the full list of award categories and their respective requirements.

Who Can Participate?

The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in universities and colleges across Malaysia, including international students studying at these institutions. Both individual and group entries are accepted where permitted by the respective award requirements.

Participation is free of charge, making the competition an opportunity for students from different academic backgrounds to share their work and explore their creative potential.

How to Submit Your Work

Students can submit their entries through the official submission link available on The Stellar Prize website or through the link in the competition’s official Instagram bio.

Participants should review the requirements for their chosen award category and ensure that all required documents and artwork files are submitted correctly.

The submission deadline is 1 December 2026. Students are encouraged to prepare their entries and complete their submissions before the deadline.
