IEEE XMUM Student Branch Welcomes New Students
On 15 October 2026, the IEEE Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) Student Branch organised the EEE Welcome and Coffee Chat, bringing together more than 60 Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) students.
The event aimed to welcome students into the EEE community while introducing them to the IEEE, its activities, and opportunities for student involvement. It also provided a platform for students to connect with academic staff, senior students, and IEEE members, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

A key highlight was a sharing session featuring Assistant Prof. Ts. Dr. Kang Chia Chao, Head of the Undergraduate Programme for the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Associate Prof. Dr. Bhuiyan Mohammad Arif Sobhan, Head of the Postgraduate Programme for the Master of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering; and Ong Zhe, a senior graduate. The speakers shared their experiences and perspectives on undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as opportunities for students pursuing electrical and electronics engineering.
The programme also featured ice-breaking activities and informal discussions, allowing students to exchange experiences, discuss academic interests and engineering projects, and learn more about getting involved in future IEEE activities.
