Jocelyn Lim Jean Yi Wins IChemE POPSIG Student Research Project Bursary 2021


The Research Management Center congratulates Jocelyn Lim Jean Yi, an undergraduate student from the Department of Chemical Engineering, XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, for being awarded the IChemE Palm Oil Processing Special Interest Group (POPSIG) Student Research Project Bursary 2021.

This bursary offers fund for students to conduct original research in palm oil-related sectors. Jocelyn Lim is the only undergraduate students among the four recipients.

Entitled “Palm oil mill effluent (POME) waste treatment using TiO2/Ti3C2Tx MXene composite aerogel via photocatalytic degradation process”, Jocelyn’s project is supervised by Dr. Andrew Ng Kay Lup (School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, XMUM) and a collaboration with Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Azlan bin Hussain (University of Malaya).

IChemE POPSIG is committed to promoting palm oil-related research among undergraduate and postgraduate students. POPSIG Student Research Project Bursary offers up to RM3,000 per project to students undertaking a 6-month original research in the palm oil sector. Upon project completion, recipient shall present his or her research findings in POPSIG webinar and newsletter article. The Bursary is sponsored by Desmet Ballestra (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Malaysian Oleochemical Manufacturers Group (MOMG).
