XMUM Team Wins Gold Award at AsianInvent Singapore Challenge 21

The Innovation Center congratulates 5 XMUM undergraduates for winning Gold Award at the AsianInvent Singapore Challenge 21 (AiSC 21). The theme of the Challenge is “Invention challenge, Sustainability in a Post Pandemic Era”.

With their project “A Novel Segregation, Collection, and Valorization Treatment System for Used Face Mask”, this team of five showcased how their inventions can make a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. A transparent garbage bin is used to collect used face masks, which would then be delivered to recycling center and used for producing raw PP materials.

The team was led by Ruan Xinyi from XMUM School of Economics and Management with team members Zhu Zhixuan from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, as well as Liu Lian, Wang Huiru and Zhu Yuxin from the School of Economics and Management. Their project was conducted under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin from XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering.

AiSC 21 is a pre-event competition of AsianInvent Singapore 2021 (AiSG 21) organized by Citizen Innovation (Singapore). AiSG 21 aims to provide a platform for innovators to showcase their ideas in an invention show format. Currently, the team is in the midst of improving their invention to compete in the main event of AiSG 21, which comes with a more stringent judging criteria.
