Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin Recognized as Overall Best Presenter at WCWM 2021

Research Management Centre congratulates Assistant Professor Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin from XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering for being recognized as one of the three Overall Best Presenters at the 2nd World Conference on Waste Management 2021 (WCWM 2021), which was held during 4–5 March 2021.

Dr. Vincent Woon presented his research work entitled “Comparative Life Cycle Assessment on Food Waste Valorization to Valuable Resources: A Case Study in Malaysia” in the conference. His work investigated the life cycle environmental impacts of proposed food waste valorization technologies including sanitary landfill, aerated windrow composting, high-temperature drying sterilization, and anaerobic digestion, as compared to the conventional food waste disposal practice (e.g., open landfill) in Malaysia.

This work was conducted in collaboration with his former student Lin Zuchao, who is currently pursuing his master’s degree at the University of New South Wales.

WCWM 2021 is an international conference that brought together scientists, researchers, activists and practitioners from academia and industry to elaborate scientific ideas, share experiences, discuss environmental issues, and find innovative strategies for waste management.
